Education & Skill Development

Human resources are the most important determinants of overall development. A more educated society may translate into higher rates of innovation, higher overall productivity. Education and Skill Development is one of the core thematic areas and gamut of initiatives have been designed to promote Inclusive and Equitable Education for Rural Children, build strong educational foundation, facilities for unprivileged section of society and develop the requisite skills to get employable.
 

In sum, Bina Refinery Education intervention aim at holistic development of the children, right from habit formation to school enrolment, preparedness for competitive exams, providing conducive environment for education, imparting education relating theory to practical, support to pursue higher education and bringing social change.

Project Samatva

(An initiative to promote Inclusive and Equitable Education for Rural Children). The initiative is one of the flagship programs of Bina Refinery. The education project provides mentoring classes to approx. 1000 nearby village children through village volunteers. The initiative started to improve school attendance, better performance, develop hygiene practices in daily life and preparedness for competitive exams. Women Literacy Classes in mostly tribal hamlets is also embedded in the project.

The initiative has increased awareness among the students about different exams and a sizeable number of them are participating & getting selected in reputed schools & competitive examinations. Till date, around 300 students got admission cleared admission/entrance exams of reputed Govt. Schools Navodaya Vidyalaya, Shramodaya Vidyalaya, Gyanodaya Vidyalaya, Govt. Model School Bina, Govt. Means cum Merit Scholarship, 1st level of Junior Mathematics, Science and Hindi Olympiad.

Medhavi Vidhyarthi Puruskar

Annual Scholarship is awarded to meritorious students from nearby Govt. Schools of Refinery at Bina and COT Vadinar. Around 3700 students have secured scholarship in Bina & COT Vadinar till date. The number of students received scholarships is increasing every year. It is a positive outcome of the scheme as it has encouraged parents to continue with girls’ education despite of financial difficulties.

Protsahan Rashi

Scholarship is awarded to meritorious students from nearby villages of Refinery at Bina to continue higher education. Around 750 students secured scholarship in Bina since 2014. The scheme has helped the students to meet the need of education related materials.

DAV-BORL Public School

Established to provide quality education, create a model school in the region and benefit students of the region. One of the most renowned school of this region with consistent performance over the last few years. Established in 2008-09, it has seen a significant rise in the no of students enrolling into it. Every year, around 70% students in the school are from the local area. There has been a sustained rise in the no of non – employee children enrolling into the school.

Upgradation/Construction of Infrastructural Facilities

To promote conducive environment for education and create an advantageous & safe learning atmosphere for the school students in nearby Govt. Schools/Hostels, upgradation/construction of infrastructural facilities has been done. Till date, construction of boundary walls in 17 schools, toilet block in 44 schools, Upgradation of Govt. Girls Hostel in Bhangarh & Govt. Tribal Girls Hostel at village Kalyanpura, District Jhabua, MP has been executed. Bench & desk provided in all nearby schools.

Initiative of COVID-19 Crisis Support

Bina Refinery has always been frontrunner in supporting noble cause. COVID-19 has hit hard and many children have lost either/both their parents. In order to support the students, an initiative in the way of scholarship, ‘COVID-19 Crisis Support Scholarship Scheme’ was initiated by Bina refinery, to support the students continue their education.

The scholarship shall be provided for one year (Mar, 22 to Feb, 23) to 50 students from Sagar region to continue their education who have lost either/both parents during COVID-19 pandemic.

Project Swavalamban

Skill Development initiatives – involves creation of livelihood opportunities through technical & vocational training for youth on different trades. Training is provided on employment linked and self-entrepreneurship development skill programs, to youth from Bina region to provide them market required skill set and improve their livelihood. Approx. 1000 people has been trained till date on various vocational trades.
